Gaelic Games – Hurling and Football

Gaelic games and Coláiste Chríost Rí are almost synonymous, with our school being one of the most successful GAA Colleges in the country. We strive to instil quality values in our players and insist that family always comes first, then their careers/study and then football.

At Coláiste Chríost Rí we pride ourselves in continuing a tradition of turning young boys into men of immense character through their involvement in Gaelic Football. We run a strict regime that requires a massive commitment from students, staff and local past pupils who willingly give of their time and expertise.

We strive to instil quality values in our players and insist that family always comes first, then their careers/study and then football. To create an atmosphere where these values become the norm we work the boys very hard on and off the field. For example to be part of the senior football panel currently students are required to study for at least three hours after every training session.

As a result of this level of commitment and hard work when you see a Chríost Rí team play you can expect to see their performance reflect the type of character each individual brings to the group. Collectively this manifests itself in passionate workman-like performances on a consistent basis. This ability to express the developed character on the field of play is what distinguishes “Chríost Rí Boys” from any other students.

When a group work so hard combined with their individual talents then it is not surprising that silverware will often follow. This is why Coláiste Chríost Rí is one of the top ranking schools of Senior ‘A’ Colleges in the country. Since it opened its gates in 1960  Chríost Rí have won 4 Hogan Cup (All-Ireland) titles, 15 Corn Uí Mhuirí (Munster) titles and 23 Simcox (Cork) titles.
