Coláiste Chríost Rí Celebrates Roll Call of Special Achievements ahead of 2024 Exam Period

Cork, 30th April, 2024 Cork post-primary boys’ school Coláiste Chríost Rí took time to celebrate a number of special events and achievements ahead of the 2024 exam period. 

School Principal Pádraig Mac An Rí recently welcomed the French ambassador to Ireland H.E.Vincent Guérend to present five Transition Year students with their award for winning the national AIPLF Ireland (Irish Association of French-Language Teachers) video competition. The team of Lluis Closa Martinez, Vuk Maglov, Luftor Rahman, Nemanja Milivojevic and Tejas Veer Singh Channi worked to design, produce, edit and narrate in French the winning video production, showcasing the importance of sport – the central theme for this year’s competition.

Separately, the school’s Science Department earned plaudits this year with Leaving Certificate student Luis Patrick Miranda qualifying for the National Chemistry Olympiad achieving a Highly Commended Award at the Finals in DCU. TheJunior Cycle Science teams also displayed their competitive spirit placing 2nd and 7th in the Cork Junior Science quiz.

Special mention was also given to Franciszek Sobolewski and Brendan O’Donoghue who received recognition last week for obtaining the joint highest mark nationwide in higher level DCG (Design and Communication Graphics) in the 2023 Leaving Certificate Examinations.

In expressing the school’s pride in the hard work and achievements of each student across the school year, Pádraig Mac An Rí paid tribute to the parents, guardians, teachers and students, “Celebrating our students’ sporting and academic successes are happy and shared experiences for us all. The life-skillset and confidence that develops through team-work and participation in academic and extra-curricular initiatives allow true talents to shine. These opportunities are very important as our student’s prepare for the next stage of their lives. We are delighted and thank them for the local, national and international recognition they have brought to Coláiste Chríost Rí.”
