ICDL

Students that are digitally literate will enjoy an enriched educational experience and will be better prepared for life, for work, and further learning.

Students who use technology as part of the learning process perform better in school, and are more motivated to learn.

Skills Support Learning

The right skills also facilitate access to information and resources, enabling students to access a more diverse pool of information from which to draw, including e-learning and multimedia content. Expanding the student’s knowledge beyond the classroom gives it more meaning, fosters critical thinking, and promotes a positive attitude to further lifelong learning.

Improve Communication and Collaboration

Learning to work together is an important life skill and technology is a vital component of the communication and collaboration process. By developing a comprehensive set of digital skills, students discover how to use technology to communicate with teachers and with their peers to share tasks and work on group assignments and projects.

Succeed in Life, Work, and Further Learning

Learning computer skills provides students not only with the tools needed to support their education, it also gives them the skills they need for success in the workplace and for daily life in the information society.

ICDL Foundation’s Certification Programmes

ICDL Foundation’s main certification programme, ICDL, is the international standard in end-user computer skills. ICDL has become the de facto standard of digital literacy in many educational systems around the world and has been widely adopted by educational ministries, for both students and teachers alike

Coláiste Chríost Rí has installed two state-of-the-art computer rooms which are available to all classes. It is acknowledged by many as one of the best facilities in the country. ICDL is available to transition year students. It is timetabled as two double class periods every week.
